Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew about Hagia Sophia - Church of the Twelve Apostles, Ferikoy, Turkey - 30 June 2020

Church News:On 1 September 2020,His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and All Palestine are to visit Constantinople for the Ceremony of the Indiction, the Church new year, The National Herald reported.The ceremony features the signing of the official proclamation of the ecclesiastical new year, the Codica,by His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Patriarchate hierarchs.
Although Patriarch Theophilos has not recognised the new Orthodox Church of Ukraine,he continues to commemorate Patriarch Bartholomew during the Divine Liturgy.This visit will be his first to the Phanar, the Patriarchal compound, since the Ecumenical Patriarchate granted autocephaly to the OCU.
In other Inter-Orthodox news, Patriarch Bartholomew called His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, expressing his sorrow and offering his prayers and support for those affected by the Beirut explosion that killed more than 150, including Orthodox Christians, and damaged several Orthodox churches and an Orthodox hospital.
For his part, Patriarch John was deeply touched by Patriarch Bartholomew's support, and expressed his gratitude, asking the Ecumenical Patriarch to continue his prayers for the great crisis that the Church is currently facing, the Ecumenical Patriarchate said in a statement.Patriarch John has recently vigorously defended the Ecumenical Patriarchate when Turkey converted Agia Sofia into a mosque.
