ΕΣΠΕΡΙΝΟΣ Κ ́ ΚΥΡΙΑΚΗΣ (Η ́ ΛΟΥΚΑ) - Vespers of the 8th Sunday of Luke and St.Arsenios the Venerable of Cappadocia,Archimandrite and Wonderworker (19th-20 century)
Members of the Russian expatriot community in Cyprus attend this parish.*Sofia,Proskomen:Wisdom,Let us attend (at the readings of Great Vespers)*Klinomen:Bow your heads to the Lord*Chant at the blessing of the loaves:Rich men have gone begging,but those who trust in the Lord shall not lack any good thing.*St.Arsenios was born in Cappadocia,Asia Minor,Turkey.He was tonsured into monasticism in a monastery,but served on a parish.He baptized St.Paisios the Elder of Mt.Athos and became his spiritual father.Towards the end of his life,he relocated to the island of Corfu as part of a population exchange with the Turks.He died at age 84 and was canonized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2015.St.Arsenios had the gift of healing.Correction:St.Arsenios is not the patron saint of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey.
